Edgware bus station will be closed from Monday for up to four months because of resurfacing work.
Passengers using 18 routes will instead have to board buses from temporary stops in Station Road.
Transport for London (TfL) is spending £850,000 on the improvement work.
Passengers will instead have to pick up buses from temporary stops in nearby Station Road during the resufacing work.
London TravelWatch, the official watchdog representing passengers, supported the work.
Chairman Brian Cooke said: "We consider that if facilities for bus users are to improve then, on occasions, there will have to be short-term pain to deliver long-term gain."
A TfL spokesman said: "We will make every effort to keep disruption to the service to a minimum.
"These essential works will ensure that the bus network's high standards are maintained."
A walkway will be provided through the station, while it is closed, so people can get to The Mall, Edgware, shopping centre, as well as Edgware Underground station.
