The Times Series has asked each parliamentary candidate to explain why they should become an MP at the General Election on May 7.
Here Green candidate for Hendon, Ben Samuel, explains why you should vote for him.
1) Climate change is the most serious threat we face, assessed by most experts to be a more dangerous threat than terrorism.
Only Greens truly understand the problem and only Greens are determined to fix it. If climate change is high on your agenda and you want an evidence-based approach, you should vote Green.
2) A feminist political party is much needed, but look no further. I was the only candidate to stand up and say I want to make Hendon a safe space for women. Each Green vote in Hendon will mean Caroline Lucas MP’s office will receive £1 to fund her work in opposition over the next five years.
3) I am the youngest of the five candidates at 28. It is so important for young people that I am standing. It is needed. With such a surge in support for the Greens amongst young people it is no wonder that I did so well at the Middlesex University panel, and such a shame that the Conservative candidate turned down the invitation.
4) For a fairer economy, I promise to listen to your concerns and be able to understand them. I propose a world where "everyone has the right to define the economic system they wish to live in." Greens would abolish the Corporation of London. We support a living wage, fair taxes, and welfare for all. I would legalise cannabis and tax it.
5) Education is central to my campaign because I pose themes which generate discussion. Greens would protect playing fields for all, bring back social mobility, abolish inspections, stop exam stress, and decentralise. So if you are a teacher or care about future generations you might consider voting Green.
