The Times Series' petition for half an hours worth of free parking across Barnet has been signed by well over 2,000 people.
The paper last month launched a campaign to encourage Barnet Borough Council to bring in half an hour of free parking in all high streets and car parks in the borough.
Traders say their shops are “dying” and shoppers say they would much rather go to nearby Brent Cross, which has free parking all day.
The Times Series petition currently has 1,885 signatures online, and on paper, more than 500 people have given their support.
With 2,000 signatures, the petition is eligible to be discussed at the next environment committee on March 10.
Our goal is to reach 7,000 signatures by April, meaning it can be discussed, debated and voted on at full council.
