Barnet is set to receive an additional £200,000 for its schools in the next financial year, the Department for Education has announced.
The additional funding will increase spending per pupil in the borough during 2015/16 to almost £5,000.
Schools minister David Laws pledged the money during a statement in the House of Commons last week.
The government is proposing that by 2015, every local area will attract a minimum level of funding per pupil, making distribution of resources fairer.
Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer welcomed the pledge, saying: “Even though Barnet has some of the best state schools in the country, the additional money is to be welcomed.
“The money follows a successful campaign by MPs for fairer schools funding and I am pleased that my constituency will benefit.”
