A Teddy Boy and his 1950s dancing queen hope to jive their way to the top of the leaderboard in tonight's North London Hospice Dancing Strictly competition.
Till Pini, 59, and Lilian Taibi, 46, have rehearsed a 1950s-inspired routine with a touch of humour to win over judges at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton.
Till, who lives in Woodside Park and runs an alarm company in East Finchley, said: “There’s eight other couples so it does get competitive. But we’re going to try and put on a bit of a show and hopefully make everyone laugh and have a good time.”
All proceeds from the contest will go to the hospice, which supports people with life-limiting illnesses.
Lilian, a bank officer from North Finchley, said: “It’s a great way to raise money for the hospice which does great work and makes people’s last days really pleasant.
“I’ve absolutely loved learning to dance and although it’s nerve wracking thinking we have to perform on stage, I hope the judges will like what we’ve done.”
The pair will dance to Jackie Wilson’s Reet Petite for their chance to be crowned 2014’s Dancing Strictly winners.
As well as learning their routine, they have raised more than £800 for the hospice. To help them raise even more visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/taibidodancingstrictly
