North London Hospice is once again calling on budding dancers to put their fancy footwork to the test in this year’s Dancing Strictly fundraising competition.

Fans of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing will be able to follow in the footsteps of their favourite celebrities as they go head-to-head for the glitter ball trophy.

The Times and Independent Series has teamed up with the hospice to put on a show full of sparkle and pizzazz at the Bruce Forsyth Auditorium at Millfield Theatre in Edmonton on Saturday, February 22.

But before the show can get on the road, contestants will be put through their paces by professional dance teachers in a seven-week training programme.

Gina McLaughlin, the hospice’s community fundraiser, said: "Last year’s Dancing Strictly was extremely popular and we were inundated with entries. It’s a great way of doing something fun, getting fit and raising money for a worthy cause in your local community.”

Contestants need to pay a £30 entry fee and raise a minimum of £250 sponsorship for the hospice which supports people living with life-limiting conditions and their families in the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

Thelia Farago, last year’s winner, said: “We raised £1,900 which is really great. My parents passed away when I was in my twenties - it was a really difficult time but a hospice helped me through my bereavement. I understand first hand the work a hospice does so I’m so happy we could raise this much money to help them.”
