Detectives investigating the stabbing of a young man in North Finchley are scouring CCTV from the area.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries following an attack in Regent Close shortly before 1pm today.

The road is an alleyway off Nether Street that runs behind a parade of shops in Ballards Lane.

Witnesses described how the man staggered into the back entrance of the Aamu Kebab house, where he was looked after by restaurant staff until paramedics arrived.

He was later airlifted to a north London hospital by a London Air Ambulance, which landed in the playground of Northside Primary School in Albert Street.

A waitress at the Boulangerie Joie De Vie, in Ballards Lane, said she heard a group of men had gathered in the alleyway shortly before the attack took place.

Staff at Sam’s Chicken said detectives had seized CCTV footage from the shop.

John Chamz, an employee at the branch, said: “It is scary, especially as it happened right behind the shop.”

Regent Close remained sealed off by police this afternoon as officers continued their investigations.

No arrests have yet been made.
