An assistant scout leader from East Barnet will be packing her camp kitchen for one of her “biggest adventures” at an international camp next week.
Sarah Preece, 26, was chosen as one of the youngest adult members of the Scouts' International Service Team, which is running a camp in Canada between August 8 and 18.
The volunteer, an assistant-leader at the 20th Southgate Scouts in Cannon Hill, was selected by members of the national Scout Association.
The World Scout Moot, an international gathering of Scouts aged between 18 and 25, will bring together almost 5,000 young people from across the world at the Awacamenj Mino outdoor base, in Low, Quebec.
Sarah, of Woodfield Drive, has previously visited Switzerland, Austria and Iceland on international camps but believes this trip, in the heart of the Outaouais forest, will be an opportunity of a lifetime.
She said "Scouting has given me wonderful opportunities to travel and camp in foreign countries, but this will be the biggest adventure yet.
“I’m looking forward to working in a team with people from all over the world running one of the sub-camps on site – and to making new friends and meeting Scouts from around the world.”
