An elderly man who realised his dying wish to marry the love of his life passed away just one week later.
David Thomas, 83, tied the knot with his partner of 25 years Kathleen Claydon, 89, during an emotional ceremony at Appletree Court care home in Burnt Oak.
The former Post Office employee, who was terminally ill, said it “meant the world” to him when the couple wed in front of friends and care home staff on July 17.
But just seven days later, the passionate gardener, who had never previously married, succumbed to his long-term illness and passed away.
A care home representative said Mr Thomas was aware of his state of health and that the couple were “so happy” they had the chance to marry.
