A BAFTA award-winning lecturer at Middlesex University has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award for his work in film.
Animation lecturer Jonathan Hodgson received the Luna de Valencia Award at the 2013 Valencia International Film Festival Cinema Jove.
The award recognises his contribution to the industry during his 25-year career, with tributes paid to his “uniqueness” in the variety of techniques he uses.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy director Tomas Alfredson also received the same honour during the festival.
Mr Hodgson, who runs the university’s Bachelor of Arts animation course, said: “It’s a great honour to have my work recognised.
“It’s a recognition of the contribution I’ve made to the world of animation and means I’ve made my mark after 25 years in the industry. It’s a lifetime achievement award, so it’s very flattering, although I hope it’s not the end of my career just yet.”
The Valencia International Film Festival Cinema Jove, which is now in its 28th year, is a specialised international film festival held in Spain, bringing filmmakers from across the world together to celebrate and explore new trends in the international film scene.
