Gardeners have been given powers to confiscate alcohol from underage drinkers in a new move to try and stamp out anti-social behaviour in the area.
Stephen Webb and Dominik Ciemierz have also been given the authority to request the names and addresses of anyone causing anti-social behaviour anywhere in Hertsmere.
The John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance employees, contractors for Hertsmere Borough Council, were given the limited policing powers under the community safety accreditation scheme.
They were presented with their certificates and identity cards by Hertsmere Neighbourhood Inspector Richard Johnson at a special ceremony, at Hatfield Police Station.
He said: “We are delighted. I am confident this will benefit the community and I hope it will help make membes of the public feel safe and reassured.”
Before being awarded their new powers the officers were vetted and attended a two-day training course.
