More than 60 women and girls walked the streets by moonlight to raise money for children and adults with learning disabilities.

Mothers and daughters strolled through the streets of Golders Green and Hampstead, raising £25,000 for Jewish charity Kisharon, which offers support and opportunities to people with learning disabilities across Barnet.

Walkers could either opt for a 10km or 20km route, beginning and ending at Alexandra Palace, with a stop off at Kisharon Day School in Finchley Road in Golders Green.

The youngest participant was ten-year-old Sinai School pupil Jessica Yefet from Edgware, who walked with her mother, Claudia, and sisters Sheli, 14 and Liat, 16.

She teamed up with Mayan Zucker, ten, who attends Kerem School and whose mother Lee works at Kisharon’s head office in Parson Street in Hendon.

Mrs Zucker said: “We all helped each other, it was really lovely and the weather was perfect.”

“We finished around 2.30am and both Mayan and Jessica found it hard, and were tired, but they were real troupers and gave their mummies a big hug.”

Sisters Zahava, Kitti and Haviva Raymond from Hendon enjoyed the 20km challenge.

Zahava said: “Our mother teaches at Kisharon’s Tuffkid Nursery, which has mainstream kids and those with special needs. That’s what gave us the idea to walk.

"On the way, people stopped to ask what we were doing and gave us money.

“It was a good night – it wasn’t too hot and there was a breeze.

"It was an opportunity to help a really great charity.”

Kisharon’s head of fundraising Adele Busse also opted for the 20km route.

She said: “Everyone was in good spirits and kept up a good pace the whole way.

"When you reach the finishing line there is a huge sense of achievement.”
