A man has been put behind bars for a vicious assault on a bus driver.
James McKenzie, 29, of Fordham Close in Barnet, was sentenced to four years' imprisonment at Wood Green Crown Court after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm.
In an unprovoked attack, McKenzie assaulted the driver of a 134 bus over a fare dispute in October.
McKenzie got out of the bus at the end of the route in North Finchley and waited until the driver left the cab.
He then continuously punched and kicked him, fracturing his eye socket.
McKenzie handed himself in to police in November, as the result of an appeal on BBC’s Crime Watch.
The Workplace Violence Unit of the Metropolitan Police Safer Transport Command, which is funded by Transport for London, investigated the incident.
Superintendent Rob Revill of the Safer Transport Command, said: "This was a particularly vicious assault on a bus driver who was just doing his job.
"I am pleased that the professional and thorough investigation has resulted in the suspect pleading guilty.
"Assaults against London's bus staff will not be tolerated and with CCTV on all of London's buses to aid us in our investigations we can catch those responsible for these offences."
