The star of a popular television programme helped a care home raise £5,700 at Bastille Day themed garden party.
Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph joined residents of Hammerson House and their families and friends for a French-themed party in the home’s gardens last weekend.
More than 230 guests enjoyed activities including live music and a French-style tea complete with apple tarts and pains au chocolat in the grounds, which were decorated red, white and blue.
The day’s celebrations also included valuations by jeweller Edward Green, displays of residents’ artwork, a raffle, children’s arts and crafts, a plant display and a beauty zone where guests were given massages and manicures.
Chief executive of the Bishops Avenue residential home Andrew Leigh said: “I am delighted Lesley Joseph could join our residents and friends to support Nightingale Hammerson at the Garden Party.”
“This was a thoroughly enjoyable day and was the culmination of months of hard work and planning by our dedicated volunteers and activities department.
“The money raised from the event will be put towards maintaining the high level of care our residents receive.”
