Travellers who moved into a village green have been issued with an eviction notice.
A group of travellers moved into Quinta Open Space in Quinta Drive in the early hours of this morning.
Neighbours reported the travellers had broken through the barriers to the village green and parked ten caravans.
A resident, who declined to be named, said she had seen the travellers this morning when she was walking her dog.
She said: “The field backs onto our properties and we’re worried about the security of our homes.
“We’ve battened down the hatches and had to close all the windows, which is not very pleasant in this heat.”
She added the travellers had positioned their trailers around the edge of the field, meaning dog walkers could not use the field, which is part of the Dollis Valley Greenwalk.
A spokesman from Barnet Borough Council said it was working with the police, who had issued the travellers with an eviction notice, giving them 24 hours to leave the site.
