Music filled a church when cadets came together to pay tribute to those working at sea.
The Borehamwood, Edgware and Mill Hill Sea Cadet Unit performed a musical version of Jonah and the Whale to mark the annual Seafarers Sunday.
During the service, held at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cranes Way in Borehamwood, pastor the Reverend Jackson blessed the Sea Cadet Unit’s new standard.
Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council Mayor Clive Butchins and Hertsmere’s Mayor Paul Morris both attended the event.
Mayor Butchins said: “It was a privilege and an honour to attend.
“It was a lovely show they put on, the whole thing was delightful.
“It is good seeing children get involved in that way.”
The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Commodore Tim Hennessy, also attended the event and stressed the importance of remembering those who serve at sea.
Pastor Jackson was inspired to plan the day because he served as a Canadian Naval Officer until August 2009.
