Firefighters tackled a crop fire at an Arkley farm following a day of intense heat on Saturday.
Crews from Potters Bar, Barnet and St Albans were called to Fold Farm in Galley Lane at 5.40pm where standing crops and slurry had caught fire.
The blaze is understood to have affected up to 10,000 square feet of crops, almost the size of two football pitches.
Firefighters had the flames under control by 7pm and investigators believe the fire was started accidentally.
Temperatures on Saturday reached more than 30 degrees in north London and it is thought the heat and dry conditions contributed to the cause of the fire.
The fire started in a crop field at Fold Farm, in Galley Lane
