A disability rights campaigner is taking Barnet Council to the High Court for the second time tomorrow as she battles to halt the authority’s controversial outsourcing scheme.
Maria Nash is appealing against an earlier decision by Judge Nicholas Underhill, who ruled in favour of the council over its One Barnet programme.
The council is looking to contract out millions of pounds worth of services to the private sector under the scheme but failed to consult residents before signing off huge contracts with business processes firm Capita.
Ms Nash lost her claim that the council should have consulted residents when she filed for a judicial review earlier this year.
Although the judge agreed the council should have consulted, Ms Nash lost the case because the claim was brought too late.
She has since appealed the decision, for which a two-day hearing will begin tomorrow.
