A girl from Mill Hill has shorn her lovely locks to raise money for children who have lost their hair.

Beatrice Leviton, nine, cut off ten inches of hair at Kink Hair Salon in Daws Lane on Friday to raise money for the Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer.

Beatrice, who attends Goodwyn Primary School in Hammers Lane, said: “I was a little bit scared but excited as well. I’m happy to help children who have lost their hair.”

Beatrice, who raised £1,100 to make more wigs for the charity, was originally going to cut off seven inches.

She said: “I decided to cut ten inches off because with the money I raised I wanted it to look more different.”

Beatrice’s mother Tina said how proud she was of her daughter, adding she had wanted to cut off her hair for over a year after her cousins in America had done something similar.

She said: “For the past year she has been asking me every time she had a trim she asked ‘can we do it now?’ She’s been really excited about this.

“Her friends at school have been really supportive, they sponsored her and cheered her when she left school to get her hair cut.”

Charity manager of the Princess Trust Monica Glass said: “On behalf of everyone connected with the Little Princess Trust, I would like to thank Beatrice for being so brave and so kind in donating her hair to help others.

“It is truly heart-warming that someone so young wishes to assist others who are experiencing difficult times.

“In addition to her wonderful hair donation, Beatrice has also raised enough money for the charity to purchase a further three real-hair wigs.

“What an outstanding little girl and what an amazing effort.”
