Burnt Oak people have had their first glance inside a refurbished post office that now has the "wow" factor.

Watling Post Office in Burnt Oak Broadway, which was closed at the end of last month, has been transformed into a new-style open plan branch.

The post office was opened on Friday by MP for Hendon Matthew Offord.

He said: “I am delighted to be opening this newly-refurbished post office. It looks modern, spacious and professional and the extra counter position will be a big benefit to customers.

"This post office is vital to the local community and I am confident the improvements will be warmly welcomed by my constituents in Burnt Oak.”

The new look branch has four serving counters, three of which are screened and one open plan one which offers post office and retail services, meaning customers can buy items at the same time as using post office services such as savings, insurance, loans, mortgages and credit cards.

Subpostmaster Mr Faragi added: “Customers are very impressed with the new look of the Post Office. They walk through the door and there is the “wow” look.

The modern open-plan counters look great.

“The branch now looks fantastic and very professional. There are also smart new uniforms for staff."

The refurbishment was part of the Post Office's national modernisation programme in the wake of its split from Royal Mail, which aims to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

Watling Post Office will be open from 8.30am until 5.30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 9am until 5.30pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
