A Mill Hill man was yesterday found guilty of stabbing a man to death and then attacking his father as he cradled his dying son.

Loen Burton, 17, of Woodcote Avenue in Mill Hill, was one of three men found guilty of murdering roofer Luke Fitzpatrick, 25, and stabbing his father Bernard, 56, in May last year.

Christopher Walters of Lovett Way, Brent was also charged with murdering Luke, while Abdi Aziz Hassan, 17 of Warren Road, Brent was found guilty of his manslaughter.

The three men will be remanded in custody and will be sentenced at The Old Bailey on June 7 along with four others who have been convicted of violent disorder.

Arsenal fan Luke and his father were in the Ox and Gate pub in Coles Green Road in Neasden on Saturday May 19 2012, where they had been watching the Champions League Final between Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

The pub was stormed by at least 15 masked and hooded youths armed with sticks and knives.

The attackers were looking for a man who had already left the pub and who had earlier been in a fight with Walters outside a corner shop.

Regulars at the pub, including Luke and Mr Fitzpatrick chased the group out, but as they reached Alder Grove, the group turned and attacked Luke, who was nearest to them, stabbing him in the chest.

They then stabbed Mr Fitzpatrick several times in the abdomen and legs. Mr Fitzpatrick was taken to St Mary's Hospital and underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries. He has since made a full recovery.

Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "Luke had no quarrel with these men. He was a hard-working and immensely popular young man who paid with his life for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"I'd like to express my sincere thanks to the many people who found the courage to come forward and assist the police, sending a clear message that local communities can make a huge impact in the fight against violent crime.

"I would like to personally extend my sincere thanks to Luke's family. The dignity and courage they have shown throughout has been truly humbling.

"Finally, I want to make it clear that the hunt for those responsible will not stop with these verdicts and I would urge anyone with information to contact the police incident room in confidence on 0208 358 0400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
