Four men have been arrested following a series of armed robberies across north London.

Three 22-year-olds were arrested at addresses in Hendon following a two-week surveillance operation by the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad.

A fourth man was arrested outside an address in Paddington. Police found a bag containing a gun, a mask and clothing believed to have been worn in the robberies inside the house.

The arrests relate to 11 armed robberies involving bookmakers and commercial premises in an area stretching from Borehamwood and Watford to Ilford and Harrow.

Detective Chief Inspector Harry Hennigan from the Flying Squad said: “After a short period of surveillance we were able to identify those we believe to be involved in carrying out these armed robberies.

"In conducting a search at an address in London were able to find a firearm and I am pleased that this has now been seized and taken off the streets of London.”
