The sound of laughter filled a school hall at a comedy event raising money for a serious cause.
Parents at Akiva School, in East End Road, Finchley Central, drafted in four professional comedians for the Just For Laughs fundraiser on Sunday evening.
Television’s Shappi Khorsandi, as well as fellow comedians Mark Maier, Bennett Arron and Milton Jones all performed.
The first-time event at the school was held to put on “something a little different” for parents and staff and raise money for Action Against Cancer and the school’s PTA.
Samantha Norman, one of three parents who organised the event, said: “We’ve been inundated with amazing comments – we were absolutely thrilled.
“We’re still counting the money now but we’re hoping to have raised about £1,000. Everyone was really geared up for it and the atmosphere was great.
“We’ve already had a number of people ask us if we’ll be organising it again so I’m sure we’ll look to put it on again next year.”
