Nurses in Barnet hospitals have welcomed lower than expected mortality rates.
Figures released by the Government show Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals trust was one of 18 trusts across the country which had a far lower mortality rate than expected in the three months up to April.
Barnet and Chase Farm was ranked 14th in the country, with only 2,074 people dying within 30 days of discharge, as opposed to the anticipated number of 2,432.
London director of the Royal College of Nursing Bernell Bussue said: ““This is really good news for patients in London.
"NHS staff, and nurses in particular, have taken a lot of criticism in recent weeks. London’s hospitals face significant pressures with budgets cuts, service restructuring and real pressure on resources.
"Despite this, these figures show that London’s Trusts currently have the best mortality outcomes in the country.”
