Mill Hill Rugby Club held a day of rugby and a slap up dinner to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The Champions Way club celebrated its anniversary with a friendly between the rugby club’s first team and a President’s XV squad made up of former players and second team members, narrowly won 19-17 by the president's men.

The match was followed by a three-course dinner and an awards ceremony in which John Goldman, 72, the man thought to be Britain’s oldest rugby player, was named second team player of the year for his dedication to the club.

Bar manager and player Steve Cracknall said: “With Saracens moving around the corner and our 75th anniversary celebrations, we feel the club’s fortunes have turned around. We’re looking forward to a successful season next year.”
