A Mill Hill singer is hoping to use her profile to raise money to combat cancer.
Award winning Irish and Country singer Heidi McCaffrey, 45, will be donning her running shoes to take part in this year’s Cancer Research Race for Life.
Ms McCaffrey and her three friends, publicist Sue Keys, head chef Gina Landon and showbiz photographer Vendula Safarova, will be taking part in the Welwyn and Hatfield race on June 9.
Ms McCaffrey said: “Everybody is touched by cancer in some way or another, whether it is a friend or relative or themselves who suffer from the disease. I lost my grandmother to cancer when she was in her forties.
“We want to do our part to raise money to research into finding a cure for the disease.”
Ms McCaffrey, who lives on Northway Crescent, has been a professional singer for more than 20 years. She has toured in Ireland, Singapore, South Africa and the Czech Republic and has just released her first album ‘Come On In.’
She said: “I want to use my little bit of profile to raise as much money as possible. We have already raised £300 in the first week, which was our target.”
