Barnet Council will be handed almost £900,000 to pay for home adaptations that allow disabled and vulnerable people to live more independently.
The authority is getting a share of a £23million Disabled Facilities Grant, for London councils, which was announced by Housing Minister Mark Prisk today.
The cash will help pay for modifications like wider doorways, stair lifts and level-access showers to hundreds of homes in the borough.
Those eligible for a grant can apply through their local council, which will arrange a house visit to assess the person’s needs.
