Young entrepreneurs are hoping to boost children's love of languages with their hand-designed activities book.
Fifteen teenagers at Jewish Community Secondary School in New Barnet made the book Flying Away with Languages as part of their Young Enterprise scheme.
The group, known as TryLingual, were inspired by Michael Gove’s plans to provide more emphasis on languages in primary schools and are hoping the book will prove popular with schoolchildren across Barnet.
Mariet Rajadurai, head of business and economics at the school, said: “They decided to make the book to engage and motivate young children between the ages of seven to 12 years.
"The aim is to educate and inspire young people to embrace and take an active interest in developing their linguistic skills in a fun way.”
The book, which costs £3.99, includes a range of activities such as crosswords, word searches, recipes and colouring pages.
The students will be selling copies of their book at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on Sunday from 12-6pm.
To order a copy contact the school on 0208 344 2220. Some of the proceeds will go to a charity chosen by the students.
