From a field filled with sheep to the living room floor, two ballroom competitors are practising their moves “wherever and whenever” in the hope of being crowned Dancing Strictly champions.

Boyfriend and girlfriend Patrick Courtney, 22, and Louise Rice, 23, plan to blow-away the judges with a waltz in next month’s Strictly Come Dancing style competition in aid of North London Hospice.

The pair will be amongst 12 couples fighting for their place at the top of the leader board at Millfield Theatre on Saturday February 9.

Louise, who lives in Barnet, said: “I used to dance at Bath University where I was part of the Latin Ballroom Society. It’s brilliant being back on the dance floor but it’s definitely a challenge.

“I can’t bring myself to think about the final night yet – it makes me too nervous. But it’s nice to think we’re raising money for such a valued charity. The hospice does such good work.”

Patrick said: “I’ve never danced before so it’s been difficult but we’ve been practising as much as we can wherever and whenever.

“We visited my parents in the Cotswolds and we were dancing anywhere we could – in the barn, in a field full of sheep. It’s great fun.”

As well as learning their dance moves each couple has been tasked with raising at least £500 in aid of the hospice which supports people with life-limiting illnesses.
