Two cousins will dance in memory of their grandmother as they compete to take home the trophy in next month’s Dancing Strictly competition in aid of North London Hospice.

Ross Hamilton, 23, and Natalie Philip, 26, are limbering up to perform the cha cha in front of a panel of judges at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton on Saturday February 9.

In a Strictly Come Dancing style competition, the pair will be among 12 couples performing for their chance to be crowned king and queen of the dance floor.

But for this ballroom duo, the competition means more than just lifting the winner’s trophy.

Ross and Natalie’s grandmother Shirley King was cared for by the North London Hospice before she died of cancer six years ago.

Ross said: “This definitely is our chance to give something back. It’s also a bit of fun as well. I’ve wanted to learn to dance for a while and I love Strictly Come Dancing. I just hope we’re going to be flamboyant enough.”

Natalie of Mill Hill said: “I think our grandma will be really proud of us. It’s nice that we can help others at the hospice too – the work they do is amazing.”

While mastering the cha cha, the couple also needs to raise at least £500 for the hospice which supports people with life-limiting illnesses.
