A 16-year-old boy who admitted killing Edgware schoolboy Kiyan Prince is to face a retrial as the jury in the original case was discharged on Friday morning after failing to agree on a verdict.
The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, had pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but denied murdering Kiyan.
The case is due to be discussed again at the Old Bailey tomorrow, when a date for a new trial will be agreed.
Kiyan, 15, from Bellamy Close, Edgware, was a promising footballer and played for Queens Park Rangers' youth team. He was stabbed in the arm and chest outside his school, the London Academy in Green Lane, Edgware, on May 18.
