The Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley is offering push-bike enthusiasts in the borough an afternoon dedicated to films about cycling.
The literature for the event states it will be a collection of short films and documentaries about the exciting and fast-paced world of cycling'.
But the enthusiasm does not stop there. Before the showing of the films on Sunday, two-wheel aficionados will be offered the chance to take part in a 50-mile ride, with the journey ending at the doors of the cinema.
Thankfully, the long journey around Hertfordshire will be at a steady pace, just 15 mph, allowing enough time for a quick lunch before the flicks begin, which include three short films and a feature-length documentary. A Wheel in Britain looks at cycle races in this country in the 1950s; The Britpack, features a collection of interviews charting British riders' involvement in world cycling; Notebook from the Tour is a short film looking at Lance Armstrong's final Tour de France, and Hell on Wheels, covers all aspects of the 2003 race.
The ride sets off on Sunday morning, meeting at 9am for a 9.30am get away, at The Big Chef, High Road, East Finchley. For more details call 07768 354010 or email nick@saddle sore.org.uk.
Tickets for the films cost £7.50, or £6 for concessions. To book contact the Phoenix box office on 020 8444 6789.
