Five Barnet Tube stations are to be improved and upgraded as part of a major programme planned by Transport for London (TfL).
East Finchley, Mill Hill East, Finchley Central, Hendon Central and Colindale stations will be revamped to provide lift access and revamped security. Some stations without disability access, such as Finchley Central, will gain lifts.
Work at Finchley Central will happen behind hordings', enabling commuters to continue using the service while work is carried out.
Work at Mill Hill East will mainly take place during the night, although there will likely be some weekend closures. The station will also get 17 new CCTV cameras.
Work at East Finchley will see the station given a fresher look and will involve some weekend closures.
Just under 50 new security cameras are expected to be installed, up from the previous 16, as well as a new announcement system and indictor boards.
Colindale and Hendon Central will remain open for the duration of the work, which will include refurbishment and 20 cameras in each station.
All the work is being carried out by private infrastructure firm Tube Lines, the company responsible for the upgrade and upkeep of the Northern line, including its tracks and stations.
David Martin, Tube Lines' project manager for Mill Hill East and East Finchley stations, said: "We will make sure that stations remain in full operational use and care will be taken to minimise disruption as much as possible to passengers and local residents."
