Leaping flat-footed between politics and celebrity, Strictly Come Dancing star and former MP Ann Widdecombe never fails to create a stir, wherever she goes.
Few will forget her being dragged across the floorboards in the BBC ballroom competition by dance partner Anton Du Beke – leading judge Bruno Tonioli to describe her as like “a Dalek in drag”.
Her no-nonsense approach meant she enjoyed nearly 25 years in the House of Commons and the respect of her peers on all sides of the political spectrum.
But her career is not without its memorable moments and critics, all of which will be revealed in the show In Conversation With Ann Widdecombe.
Whatever your views on the witty 63-year-old, it’s difficult to deny she has added some spark to politics. Hear all about the highs and lows, and her love of goats.
Ann Widdecombe is at The Radlett Centre on March 27 at 7.30pm. Details: 01923 859291
