ELODS (the Enfield Light Operatic and Dramatic Society) presents the rip-roaring comedy musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, next week at the Wyllyotts.
Set in 1920s New York, it tells the story of Millie, who has the single ambition of marrying a rich husband, and nothing will deter her – except perhaps for lovelorn-but-penniless Jimmy, or Mrs Meers, a hotel mistress running a white-slavery racket.
This production, suitable for all the family, features music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics by Dick Scanlan, and is based on the book by Richard Morris. Songs include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Not for the Life of Me, Only In New York and Forget About the Boy.
Thoroughly Modern Millie runs from Tuesday, March 22 to Saturday, March 26 at the Wyllyotts Theatre, Darkes Lane, Potters Bar. Details: 07770 871140, www.elods.org.uk
