Garden Suburb Theatre’s latest production is a take on the story of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling.
But rather than being based on a farm and in the countryside, Honk! is set in the human urban jungle. An impressionable and callow youth is out in the big world, cared for by a bunch of chickens with all the loving, gossiping and bitchy tendencies of aunties everywhere.
Directed by Tim Solomons, the production features a large chorus including children from local schools, while both new and experienced actors will be playing the character roles.
Honk! is at the Henrietta Barnett School, Central Square, Hampstead Garden Suburb, from Friday-Sunday, February 25-27 and Thursday-Saturday, March 3-5. Details: 020 7723 6609, www.gardensuburbtheatre.org.uk
