From the big skies and iconic outcrops of Monument Valley to detailed close-ups of plants, David Benardout’s work is a photographic journey around the world.

This month, the Stanmore photographer will exhibit limited editions of his prints, which portray a variety of subjects.

Combining his passions for travel and photography, David has journeyed to the four corners of the world – and the bits in between – so visitors to The Radlett Centre can expect to see South American landscapes, koala bears in Australia, lions in Africa and much more on display. Each photograph has been framed individually to enhance the beauty of the subject.

David retired nine years ago, and has travelled extensively, to places including South America, The Falkland Islands, the Middle East, Far East, Australia, Europe and Kenya, taking thousands of images along the way.

However his love of photography started some time ago.

“From the early age of 13 my interest in photography blossomed when I was a member of my school’s photographic club, developing and printing film from my Kodak Brownie in a dark place under my stairs,” he explains.

“I then spent 45 years in the carpet cleaning industry, specialising in the cleaning and restoration of oriental carpets at an automatic carpet cleaning works (in Henley-on-Thames). I was still using my camera during this period photographing fine Persian carpets and rugs for valuation purposes.

“Since my retirement I have been constantly using my camera, now a Nikon SLR, on my travels around the world.”

Photographic Art by David Benardout takes place at The Radlett Centre, Aldenham Avenue, Radlett, from today until December 30, 10am to 4pm. Details: 01923 859291, www.justmyphotos.co.uk
