A Hackney Council spokesperson explained that the schools in the outstanding list at the latest Ofsted inspection are state-funded secondary and special schools.
On top of the state-funded schools, there are a significant number of independent (or private) schools in Hackney.
Parents apply directly to an independent school for a place in that school.
The spokesperson added that all the schools in the list rated inadequate by Ofsted are independent schools and independent and special schools are not part of the offer day process.
