Jake Hyde returned from his ankle ligament injury against Grimsby Town on Saturday and admitted he couldn't stand watching from the side-lines during his two-month lay-off.
Hyde was brought on in the 68th minute against the Mariners for his first appearance since the beginning of October.
It has been a frustrating season for the striker but he says he has tried to make the best out of a bad situation.
He explained: “It is great to be back. I am still lacking a little bit of the sharpness and fitness I need but that will come with the more time I get on the pitch.
“So it is lovely to be back and I couldn't stand watching any more.”
Hyde added: “I have worked hard while I have been injured but hopefully I have made the most out of it and will come back stronger.
“I am still doing all my exercises so it will take a little bit of time but I am just excited to be back.”
Barnet have had a number of injuries in attack this season and Jon Nurse led the line during the 2-1 defeat against Grimsby.
The Bees take on Hyde on Saturday and Hyde was asked if he is fit enough to start. “That is up to the coaching staff,” he replied.
“But the more minutes I get on the pitch the better it will be for me. I’m just looking forward to playing as much football as I can because I have missed it.
“So I’m just dying to get out of the pitch and while I am out there I will work hard and try and enjoy myself.”
