Barnet went down 3-1 at Portsmouth in an incident packed match at Fratton Park which saw the Bees end the game with ten men following goalkeeper Jamie Stephens' dismissal.
The Bees took the lead after 25 minutes when Andy Yiadom turned home Mauro Vilhete's low cross from the right.
However, Pompey equalised eight minutes before half-time when Conor Chaplin got on the end of Gary Roberts' free-kick and drilled low past Stephens.
The home side went in front for the first time after the break when Adam McGurk raced through to slot beyond Stephens.
Any Barnet hopes of taking something from the game were ended when Stephens earned a second yellow card, and subsequently a red, for hauling down Kyle Bennett.
Portsmouth made the points safe at the death when Chaplin grabbed his second of the afternoon, finishing past substitute goalkeeper Kai McKenzie-Lyle.
