Reported interest in Barnet's Matt Stevens from Premier League giants Manchester United and Manchester City is genuine, the Times Series has been told, but neither club has made an offer for the striker.
The only bids for the 17-year-old, who scored 57 times for the Bees’ Under-18 side last season, have come from Swansea City – as we reported earlier this summer – and Crystal Palace.
In June the Swans had a £250,000 offer for the former Reading teenager turned down and another offer from Palace, made after their friendly win in July, was also rebuffed.
Both Manchester clubs have expressed an interest in the forward and have watched Stevens play. Neither United nor City, however, have submitted an offer to Barnet.
Stevens was signed by the Bees last summer following his release from Reading, that despite netting 32 times for the Royals.
In September he became the youngest player to play for Barnet's first team when he made his debut as a late substitute in the 2-1 win over Alfreton Town at The Hive.
He subsequently scored his first senior goal with a Panenka penalty in a 6-2 defeat against Concord Rangers in the FA Trophy first round in December.
