Fresh from scoring the goals to fire Barnet back into the Football League, Mauro Vilhete has been named Conference Player of the Month for April.
The 21-year-old utility man grabbed both goals against Gateshead on Saturday as Barnet returned to the Football League by winning a record third Conference title.
Vilhete excelled during April, netting three times as the Bees won four and drew one of their five Conference fixtures.
He becomes the third Barnet player to be named Conference Player of the Month after Graham Stack and John Akinde.
Speaking after picking up his award, the Lisbon-born utility man said: “Every time that I have come onto the pitch I have tried the best I can to help the team and all the hard work has paid off. It was a great feeling to score the goals in that final game.
“I have been working hard for it throughout the whole season and luckily enough I was in the right place at the right time [against Gateshead], twice.
“The whole team deserves praise, not just one player. I think we’ve all worked extremely hard. We managed to win the league and I could not be more grateful – day by day I think it is sinking in bit by bit.”
