The Times Series understands Barnet turned down transfer deadline day offers from Luton Town and Blackpool for Keanu Marsh-Brown while Forest Green Rovers were also interested in a deal for the winger.
The 22-year-old has made four appearances for the Bees this season and netted two goals. However, he hasn’t featured in the club’s last two matches – prior to last night’s (Wednesday’s) Conference clash against Dover Athletic – and was left out of the squad for Saturday’s win against Alfreton Town.
Marsh-Brown had been linked with a deadline day move away from The Hive and we now understand bids were submitted from several clubs.
However, a deal couldn’t be completed and Luton Town boss John Still says that is because of Barnet’s valuation of the former Fulham youngster.
“It’s something that I spoke to the chairman about, but I think as has been shown with other clubs that were interested in him, the value of him is too high,” Still told the Luton News.
“It’s too high for a Championship club and didn’t represent any value.
“There were other clubs that were possibly interested in this situation, and obviously they didn’t think it was the right value. We didn’t think by a long way it is the right value.”
Still did add the Hatters could still make a move for Marsh-Brown now the loan window has reopened.
Barnet have confirmed they received offers for Marsh-Brown and, when Bees head coach Martin Allen was asked on Saturday about the deadline day offers, he said: “I’ve no idea. I’m not dealing with all of that.
“I just concentrate on the players that are playing. Mr Kleanthous is an expert on that side of things.
“I don’t deal with those types of things, the chairman deals with all that kind of stuff.”
