Barnet midfielder Mauro Vilhete has signed a new ‘long-term’ deal to remain with Barnet until June 2017.
The Portuguese utility man has been a regular in Martin Allen’s side so far this season and has subsequently signed a three-year deal to remain with the Bees.
Vilhete, who became Barnett's youngest Football League player when he made his first-team debut at 16, has made five appearances for the Bees this term.
Speaking to the club's website, the 21-year-old said: “There have been good times and bad times but at the moment it is going well so I just want to do well for the club and help them get to where we should be.”
He continued: “We’ve got lots of competition for places on the wings but it is all about how I dedicate myself. I carry on doing what I’ve been doing then hopefully I can keep my place in the team and keep pushing on.
“So far this season has gone well so hopefully I can continue my good run of form and help the team push for promotion.”
The diminutive Sintra-born wideman made his Barnet debut in 2010 and has since gained crucial first-team experience away from the club in loan spells at Hendon and Boreham Wood.
In total, Vilhete has made 70 appearances for the Bees in all competitions, scoring four goals.
