Edgar Davids admitted Barnet’s 1-1 draw with Lincoln City felt like a defeat following the Imps’ 95th minute equaliser.

An outstanding solo goal from Keanu Marsh-Brown put the Bees ahead and that seemed enough to secure the three points.

But the final kick of the game proved pivotal as Jon Nolan smashed home from close range to earn Lincoln a deserved draw.

Speaking after the game, Davids said: “It does feel kind of like a defeat. When you’re 1-0 up and then they equalise in the last minute it is a bitter pill to swallow.

“In the first half they did very well in midfield and their midfield is very strong – the strongest we have played so far in the league.

“But it is still 0-0 at half time and in the second half we pulled away and dominated the midfield.

"We controlled the second half so it is sad to see us go down like that.”

Marsh-Brown’s individual strike was certainly an early candidate for goal of the season and Davids believed it was a goal that could have graced any league in Europe.

He said: “Keanu is exceptionally gifted and what he did was on a different level. I said at the beginning of the season not to underestimate the Conference because there are good players in the division.

“I hope there will be exceptional goals scored in this Conference because that will inspire younger players to start in the Conference.

“You saw that here and a goal like that could happen in Spain, Italy or in the Premier League. I am happy Keanu did it for us and I hope that it will inspire other players in the Conference.”
