Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous admits he will miss Underhill but believes the Bees must relocate to The Hive as “the world has moved on.”
The club has played on the sloped pitch for 106 years but the match against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday was Barnet’s final game at the unique stadium.
The Bees will play their home matches at The Hive, which is in Harrow, from the beginning of next season.
Kleanthous said: “I am certainly going to miss Underhill but it is time for us to move on, the world has moved on. It is an old stadium and we haven’t been able to modify it over the years.
“We need something that will do for us for the next 106 years.”
Barnet ended their time at Underhill with an important 1-0 victory over the Chairboys thanks to a Jake Hyde goal and a last minute saved penalty from goalkeeper Graham Stack.
“We always seem to find the most difficult and awkward way to do things,” the Bees chairman said.
“You could see that the players wanted to make a point. It was a good farewell to the old stadium.”
