It's interesting the Conservatives running Barnet Council were so quick to claim the Government had "sensationalised" the schools admissions breaches made by several Barnet schools.
It is also telling that they sought to portray criticism of those schools breaking the rules as an attack on Jewish schools - since Catholic and Church of England schools were also found to have broken admission rules.
The "fees" listed represent a significant sum of money for low income families - particularly for those with more than one child (Schools charged £895 a term', Times Series, April 3). Expressing criticism of these breaches is not about demonising faith schools of particular denominations, but about ensuring members of the Jewish, Catholic, Church of England and other communities are not deterred from applying to their school of choice because they happen to be less well-off.
