Barnet Council has started the consultation process on the new Local Development Framework (LDF) that sets out the basis for future planning policy over the next 15 years.
In this document, New Barnet is being identified as a centre suitable for more retail (supermarkets) and higher density residential developments (blocks of flats) developments.
New Barnet has already been subjected to a planning application for a large superstore and 211 flats and more than 2,500 people signed a petition and Barnet Council received over 1,700 written objections — an unprecedented level of response.
Yet all that public opinion seems to have been ignored.
If you are a Barnet resident, you should read and comment on the LDF document. Talk to your councillors and give them your views. If you just sit back and do nothing, then don’t be surprised when superstores and blocks of flats start appearing in New Barnet.
