PLANNED longer trains on the Thameslink route may not be able to stop at two of the stations in Barnet, according to the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Hendon.
Twelve carriage trains are due to be introduced in December 2011 as part of the Thameslink improvement works in a bid to reduce overcrowding on the stretched line.
However, at a meeting with Lib Dem candidate Matthew Harris and and First Capital Connect manager Larry Heyman was unable to guarantee the extended trains would stop at Hendon or Mill Hill Broadway stations.
Mr Harris, who has been campaigning for improvements in the rail line said: “FCC is clearly committed to improving Thameslink after the misery caused by recent problems. 12-car trains will ease overcrowding and are a welcome development.
“But we surely need them to stop at Hendon and Mill Hill Broadway stations? I have requested clarification and will report back when I get it.
“I will continue to work with FCC to help them deliver on their promises following the dreadful problems of the last few months.”
