A GROUP of children at an Edgware school got a special visit from the Mayor of Barnet to celebrate their continued efforts to walk to school on Wednesdays.
Pupils at Edgware Infant School in High Street were visited by Councillor Brian Coleman on Friday for a special assembly reminding them of the benefits of walking to school.
The school was the first in the borough to achieve a Higher Standards accreditation from Transport for London (TfL) for their travel plan for pupils.
Leila Harris, the school’s travel plan co-ordinator said: “It has been a really useful document as it has really made the school community and the children themselves think about safety issues on their journeys.
“The children really seem to enjoy walking, and as a National Healthy School we encourage children to exercise as well as to show concern for the environment.”
